Overview
Need more punch out of a 4" pot light without giving up slim depth? The Lotus LY41RCD original series is a 12W, 4" round slim recessed LED that fits in tight Canadian ceiling cavities while throwing 700–800 lumens of light, depending on colour temperature.
This 3000K black trim variant (LY41RCD/30K/BK) is Type IC, airtight, Energy Star certified and rated for damp locations, so it can go into insulated ceilings, basements and covered entries without a traditional can.
Key Features
- More light from a 4" opening: 12W output with approx. 700 lumens at 3000K and 800 lumens at 4100K variants, giving more usable light than typical 9W slims.
- Ultra-slim 1" profile: Fixture depth of about 1" with a remote driver, so it fits under joists and around ductwork where standard housings will not.
- Type IC & airtight: Approved for direct contact with insulation and airtight ceilings, with no separate pot light housing required.
- Energy Star & cULus listed: Tested for efficiency and performance with IP54 rating and damp-location approval.
- 120V TRIAC dimmable: Standard driver is 120V AC, TRIAC dimmable with most CL-style wall dimmers; optional 120–347V 0–10V dimming driver is available for commercial jobs.
- Designed for Canadian winters: Operating temperature down to about -40°C and up to +40°C, suitable for cold basements, garages and entryways.
- Long life, long warranty: Rated for 70% light output at 50,000 hours with a 10-year residential and 5-year commercial warranty.
- Clean, modern trims: Available with white, black or brushed nickel trims to match different interiors across the same project.
Canadian Use Cases
- Basement suites, rec rooms and home gyms that need more light from a small 4" opening.
- Main-floor kitchens, hallways and living rooms where ceilings are full of joists or ductwork.
- Covered entries, mudrooms and laundry rooms needing an IC-rated, damp-approved slim fixture.
- Small offices and retail spaces where you want a slim downlight with a black trim look.
- Garage and utility spaces down to around -40°C ambient when installed per code.

Common Questions
-
Do I need a pot light housing?
No. The LY41RCD is a canless design. It is Type IC and airtight, so it can be installed directly into insulated ceilings following Canadian electrical code. -
How much brighter is this than a 9W slim?
This original series uses 12W and is roughly equivalent to a 65W halogen, with about 700–800 lumens depending on colour temperature, so it is a good choice for main rooms or when you want fewer fixtures. -
Can I dim these with a regular wall dimmer?
Yes. The included 120V driver is TRIAC dimmable with most compatible CL dimmers. For 0–10V dimming or 120–347V input, use the optional Lotus driver instead. -
Is there a wet-location version?
Yes, LY41RCD-WET is the wet-rated version for showers and exterior covered locations. Use that product instead where a wet rating is required.
